Thank you to all our faithful and generous members and donors for hanging in there! The board of directors is working on plans that will enhance exhibits and park grounds. In addition, we are back to planning special events that will include some old favorites(Lantern Tours) and a few brand new programs. 
We hope to see you in the park soon!

The mission of the Appomattox 1865 Foundation is to enrich the understanding and appreciation of the heritage and significance of Appomattox Court House National Historical Park. The Foundation focuses on efforts to preserve the past, augment financial support, commemorate history and enhance each and every visitor’s experience

 Our ongoing goal is to complete restoration and enhance the visitor experience at the Sweeney Cabin and to educate visitors on the significance of this place.  Our park saw the birth of a new musical genre and we plan to celebrate and honor those individuals who were responsible. Some of our efforts include the following:

SWEENEY CABIN RESTORATION CAMPAIGN - FUNDRAISING EFFORTS will focus on

  • INSIDE DISPLAYS/SIGNAGE

  • SOLAR POWERED WAYSIDE

  • IMPROVED ACCESS AND PARKING TO THE CABIN AND TRAILS
